Day 1a – Gary Goes: Coast to Coast

I don’t have a prince albert, but TSA thinks I do. An exceptionally intimate and tactile start to the trip.

My entire groin was bright red on the detector which I guess means I have lead in my pencil so to speak? I’m sure I’ve only grazed the tip of the available groin frisking jokes available, but I’ll stop and linger there for a bit.

SEA – CHS, boarding in about 10 minutes freshly groped and secure to travel.

Day 0 – Gary Goes: Coast to Coast

It’s 1145am and I just finished packing. My alarm is going to go off in 5 hours, so I don’t really have time to make this intro as elegant or compelling as a kick-off blurb should be, but such is life.

Tomorrow I’m flying to Charleston, SC specifically to force the drive I’m making from Georgia to Seattle into a full Coast to Coast run. Run is an overstatement as I’ll be taking many breaks and spreading it across a 2 week period.

The course looks something like this:

Sunday: SEA to CHS by air, drive a rental car to ATL

Monday: Work, drop off rental, pick-up my 2022 First Edition Ford Maverick Lariat with 4k tow package, enjoy an evening with my sister and her husband and my impossibly adorable nephew.

Tuesday: Work, drive to Nashville, spend the evening with my very dear friends Chad and Leilani and their  daughter Ruby.

Wednesday: Work, drive to St. Louis, get psyched for the very last StrangeLoop conference.

Thursday: StrangeLoop!

Friday: StrangeLoop! And then pickup Maya, my love and partner and only true cohort in this oft times baffling world from the airport to spend time with her in STL since I won’t be making the trip every year anymore.

Saturday & Sunday: Missouri botanical gardens and sundry other activities in STL with Maya my love.

Monday: last day in STL, take Maya to the airport, drive to Emporia, KS

Tuesday: Visit the salt mines Hollywood archives over 600 ft underground in Hutchinson, KS continue to Limon, CO

Wednesday:  Work, drive to Moab, UT, marvel at nature.

Thursday: Work, drive to Tremonton ID.

Friday: Drive as close to Seattle as possible, but likely to Yakima. Get tamales in Union Gap and try to get a quick visit with my Aunt Wendy if I arrive at a reasonable hour.

Saturday: Drive to SEA and pick-up my love and dearest buddy Maya to join me on the drive to Westport, WA to complete the coast to coast journey.

Sunday: Lazy breakfast and drive back to SEA to collapse at home.

Monday: Day off to enjoy being home and recharge.

Wish me luck and…

Yippee!

I added a dynamic sidebar to the classic theme. Pretty pedestrian, but hey…ya gotta start somewhere.

If this is boring you to tears, there is more interesting stuff over at Eighth Acre Bounty, you should visit. At present this is where you will find a couple pictures of my holes and piles…

Also for today, Cleary the chicken laid an egg whilst wandering around looking for a place to lay an egg. I’m trying to figure out why she is so weird about where she lays. The trend seems to be that she wants to lay the egg in the same place that another chicken has already laid an egg (assuming the previously laid egg is still in its place). As of yesterday, Dahl’s eggs have been the target of a dining enterprise on the part of all chickens, so I’ve really been scooping them out of there fast which seems to aggravate Cleary. Blume (the little banty), lays reliably and generally without incident (although she will crowd into the nesting box with Cleary when she is trying to lay, I’ll see if I can drum up a picture of that excitement).
